1.  Year produced.
2.  Model (L, K, KA, KB)
3.  Body Type Number:  Remove the front seat and look on the passenger
side of the seat riser for a tag with a “type” number. An alphabetical letter at
the end of the Type number further identifies the body style. A one or two digit
Body Builder Prefix and Body Production Number are listed on the second line of
the tag. Include the entire number. (Example: Body Type 162A - NO 4-1)
Lincoln
Car Number: Sometimes referred to as Serial Number, located under the hood on a
tag attached to the firewall. Up until late 1922, car numbers did not match
engine numbers. After Lincoln car number 6585, the Lincoln Car number matched
the engine number.
Frame Numbers: Engine Numbers were also stamped on the frame
between 1920 and 1926. Look behind the right front wheel. Note where the spring
shackle attaches to the frame. Look inside the space formed by the three rivets
just above the shackle for a frame number.
Other Frame Numbers: If the body is
off the frame, the three digit body “type” number and the day, month and year
the body was put on the frame at the factory is stamped on the frame. On Model L
frames, look at the horizontal surface on the center frame support where it
attaches to the right side of the frame. Look between the six rivets attaching
the reinforcing strap to the center support. The date is stamped on the
reinforcing strap. On Model K frames, the body type and date are stamped on the
horizontal surface of the frame rail just below the center of the X
reinforcement as viewed from the right side of the frame.
4.  Engine Number:  Located on a flat portion of the aluminum engine crankcase. Lift the hood on the driver's side of the car. Look just below where the engine cylinder block is bolted to the crankcase.
5.  Designer/Builder:  Some Lincolns have tags on the lower cowl.
6.  Body Style:  Some examples would be: touring, 5-passenger sedan, 7-passenger limousine, roadster.
7.  Condition:  You may rate the condition of your Lincoln using one or more of the following categories:
     O = Original     D = Driver     R = Restored     U = Under Restoration
     I = In Need of Restoration     P = Parts Car     X = Other
8.  History:  Prior owners, museums, historical associations and personages, meets attended, awards, restoration, and other stories!
Items 3, 5, and 6 above should be based on data you may possess or based on information in the first edition of The Lincoln Motor Car by Thomas Bonsall or on your best judgment.
